wanton 'cheese'

something about this poster that makes me really, really wanna watch this show. and of cos, the numerous articles i hv read abt it. i think mayb it is selena, whom remind me so much of a fren (heheh), or mayb it is the wanton mee. i hope to be able to catch this play sometimes next wk.

i spent the wknd hanging out in Liquid/Disco. it was a rather cold nite cos it pissed so much, we could see the river next to the club gushing down all the trash on the riverbanks. wait, was there a riverbank, or was there not? i must be too buzzed. anyways, i knew i would hv a lot of fun hangin' out with cheese, thus, i had asked him out even before d wknd was near. besides, i really wanted to party.

...and party we did! we wanted to hv a pre-drink session around PJ so i recommended Laundry - the spanking new hang out place in The Curve since ad's ma was around. i reckon we shud bring her out for a drink or something. but it was too bad cos it was packed and darn noisy, too. so we headed to TGIF...and ended up drinking lemonade :P

cheese was pretty well prepared by bringin some drinks. i actually tot to myself where are we gonna drink it. little did i knw he was plannin' to drink it in d car! we downed quite a lot of vodka, the 'ghetto style' while listening to "We Belong Together'. it was crazy fun. havent done crazy stuff like this for a long time.

met d rest of them in the bar. (oh they've got pretty good service by having some of their staff passing umbrellas to patrons who've parked nearby - unbelievable good service, isnt it?). we all danceed like mad cows. at least i think cheese, and mei's fren was totally having fun, man! they are WILD!!! haha... it is so fun to hang out w sporty ppl. kinda look fwd again but too bad cheese is leaving us soon to Seattle on the 19th. sigh...hope i get to visit him next yr.

on sunday, i did a bit of cooking again. i improvised my 'failed' pasta (read previous entry) and it turned out to be so delicious! i think im digging cooking now. hehe...

Suzuki Swift Price Increased

this news came as a blow to me to say the least, cos i was kinda banking on the fact that the price of Suzuki Swift will go down, instead of up. Thank God i followed my instinct and kinda listened to the advice of my stupid car salesman (ok, i do not call him stupid for no reason but tat's an entirely different story altogether).

Anyways, i got the news from Paul Tan's blog... here's the gist of the story he had posted: -

"Model Name:
  1. Suzuki Swift 1.5 (A)
Old Price: RM81,779 New Price: RM87,279
    [That is about 7% increment]

  2. Suzuki Swift 1.5 (A) Premier
    OP: RM86,279 NP: RM91,779

  3. Suzuki Grand Vitara 2.0 (A)
    OP: RM139,888 NP: Remains

The price of the Suzuki Swift 1.5 (A) baseline without leather seats and tinting has actually gone up by quite a bit, but don’t worry as manufacturing of CKD Suzuki Swift cars is expected to begin in 2007. Tax on CKD cars are not as high as CBU cars, so you will be able to enjoy a cheaper but locally assembled Suzuki Swift next year."

Locally assembled Suzie? (Suzie is Swift) WTF! i hope it is not too cheap. i believe these guys at Suzuki know the drift and will price it reasonably. anyways, it all ends well cos my car is worth much more now :P ... i was browsing at the various suzuki global sites and i found this site and the aussie site the cutest. apparently, my lil suzie won quite a lot of awards already in 2006 & 2006. quote Car Magazine (UK):

"The Swift is stylish, roomy and good value (good value if ur a BRIT!), pretty quick and a lot of fun to drive (agree!). It drives so well, it looks so good." Car Magazine, Suzuki Swift Winner 2005 Car of the Year. Issue 521, January 2006.

Cool, right?

fashion music

strange that i have already received free gifts even before my birthday. but i guess it is all good cos it's FREE! i've got a spa treatment for free and coffee and cakes, too. how cool is that rite? guess it paid off for joining all this membership and, of cos, credit cards. evil evil...

i was in midvalley a couple of days ago and they were having fashion shows at the centre court... it is called, 'Out of the Box' or something. the line up was Bonia, and then Eclipse. we skipped Bonia for obvious reason and headed for dinner. after dinner, we managed to catch the entire show for Eclipse (for the uninitiated, it is a homegrown brand by a popular local designer, Sonny San). the collection was pretty boring to say the least and Amber Chia ... my God. somebody must tell her to stop. just STOP MODELLING, or ENDORSING any products. she sucks! her pose, same same, and she has totally lost the sexy appeal compared to when she first came out. that's what happened when you are too greedy. sad. but i love the music they play for the fashion show ... we were imagining the place if it is turned into a discotheque. that'd be darn cool! haha.... i reckon it was cos there was a bunch of hotties who were next to us. one of them is the local designer Jonathan Cheng.

anyways, hotties aside, here is some top music that's been spinnin on my player (damn it, not on my iPod cos i fcking don hv one, yet). it's my car stereo ;)

  1. SOS - Rihanna
Scorching young thing from Barbados. THIS song, mark my words, will garner more ppl's attention than her first single. It's cos of the superhot mtv. a handful of good songs in her eponymous album. chk it out if u dig SOS.
  2. Walk Away - Kelly Clarkson
yes. the most popular idol in the world. i tot she rocks when her 2nd single, "Since u been gone" caught my attention. i remember how one of my frens dissed her. oh well, you cant please everyone, they say. "Walk Away" is darn cool albeit very Pink. this gal comes a long long way
  3. Bad Day - Daniel Powter
ok, ok... i knw this song got popular cos of American Idol but i got noticed of it waaay before American Idol used it as the official send off song, and ever since that, it became so popular, it shot all the way (back) up to No. 1 in the top Billboard 100
  4. If I were You - Hoobastank
    infectious.
  5. Control Myself - LL Cool J feat J Lo
it is a very 90s sounding song that it's dancable...plus, there's j lo. she looks great in da video 2
  6. Views from the Afternoon - Artic Monkeys
these lads from UK has got a lot of ppl paying attention to their music. they are a bit like The Athletes slash Coldplay. i'm not sure but i'm certainly checking the album out
  7. Seven Days in Sunny June - Jamiroquai
i love this song especially if you play it when cruising on the highway... love it love it love it love it!
  8. Let's Never Stop Falling in Love - Pink Martini
this is one of the many songs that i like from their second album. it's the kinda album that put a smile on your face when u play and once you play it you just want to sit back and relax...with ur fav book or fav person next to you...great for chilling out, too

i am really into chill out and jazzy shits these days. i listened to Corrine Rae Bailey's album recently and i totally have fallen in love with her voice just like when i first checked out Rachel Yamagata. nice ones! bsides, im a REAL sucker for nice design cover! dang! check out her website. im into fantasy like design ie floral, flowers, fairies, butterflies etc... bohemian shits. nice!

mission shenanigans

it's LABOUR DAY!

i wanna make a shout out: i'm fucking working on a LABOUR DAY! no, no, i do not own my own co. i simply hv to work on a day where all salaried people incl. bosses get a day off! except me!

ok, ok enuff bitching. geez, i cant stand myself sometimes *preen* on the flip side of the coin, i actually am glad i am in the office cos i managed to finish off a lot of work - both personal and work. it has been quite productive since i clocked in until now *raised eyebrow*

ad will be back on wed.

*be warned, missing lovers cliche ahead*

kinda miss waking up next to him and smelling him and kicking his arse! hehe... i have been laying low lately simply cos i wanna treat myself better. love myself more by spending more time with myself. yes, i love spending time with myself cos sometimes i think it will make us more sane? or, am i insane to admit that? i don think so...bsides, i hv to grab the bloody opportunity when i've got it, rite? (ad in hk, hullo??!) ... so, what have i done? i watched all the dvds we've bot but simply do not hv the time to watch it. one of it is Match Point by Woody Allen. Good stuff, i tell ya cos i really thought it was a romance story. it totally blown me away with the surprises towards the end. here's bits from the conversation between Nola (Scarlett Johanssen) and Chris (Jonathan Rhys Meyers):

Nola: So. Who is my next victim? You?
Chris: I haven’t played table tennis for quite a while.
N: Would u like to play for a thousand pound a game? C: What did I walk into?
*Chris hits the ball and Nola misses it* N: What did I walk into?
*Chris walks over to show Nola how to play ping pong* C: It’s like this. May I?
N: Please.
C: You have to lean to hit the ball.
N: I was doing just fine until you showed up.
C: Ah ... the story of my life. So tell me. What’s a beautiful American ping pong player doing mingling amongst the British upper class?
*Nola lights a cigarette*
N: Did anyone ever tell u u play a very aggressive game? C: Did anyone every tell u u’ve a very sensual lips?
N: Extremely aggressive.
C: I’m naturally competitive. Is it off-putting
N: I have to think about that for a while.

i personally feel that was one of the unforgettable scenes in the movie.

anyways, besides catchin up all on d dvds, i also tried my hands on ... cooking! i did two versions of spaghetti and the last one was not a failure per se. it was just missing something. i figured i need fresh basils or some greens the next time but yeah, i love to cook. i think i am so gonna get an oven soon.

the summer is here and yes, yes, yes! lotsa movies are gonna be in town and i am eagerly awaiting for X:3, Superman Returns, and a lot of other crazy summer blockbusters! except Mission Impossible 3.

i don think i need 10 reasons to hate that show. just one will do: Tom Cruise.

why? he's a bloody psycho! eat his wife's placenta? katie must give birth silently? condeming caesarian birth over natural birth? jumped like a chimpanzeee w his horsey toothy grin in Oprah and and stood on his own car on a movie premiere recently...gosh this twerp is whack! what POT ARE YOU SMOKING, dood??!

taurus man

here is something about a Taurus man that i do not know about and that i have to or like to believe it is at least 80% true about me. esp the part about me treating my frens. so, if ur my frens, pls don hate me for not callling. i guess im jus being a typical taurus here. blame it on my sign! :p and just for the record, i did not wirte this up. i got it from an email my fren had sent me.

A quiet simple man who can do something unexpected to shock you.
Taurus man mostly medium tall, strong with good health, good strong body. When he talks, he likes to turn his head to one side on one direction. {Not true!! cos tat is downright rude! and i absolutely abhor rude ppl} His body will be quite straight, facial structure tend to be square shape more than other shape. His eyes sparkle with liveliness.

Even when he is in love, he is still a free wild bird. He is a sand in your palm, the more you want to hold it, it will slip out. If you stand and hold it still, it will stay that way. Don't set the rules and draw a line for him, he will not stay.

{mm hmm... i hate control freak}

When you are with him, he will think only of you. But an hour later he could change his mind. He is very patient with other people, but very impatient with himself. His world always turning and it will not stop just because he loves you. If he is upsets, he will show it right away. If something has gone wrong, he will blame his own carelessness instead of blaming other people.

He sincere to his friends even to some friends he does not like. {i can attest to this. never had been insincere. jus sometimes bitchy hehehe}He likes to do odd things and surprise other people. He could be fully dress in a nice suit and jump in the pool. He could slap your back so hard just to make you turn around to see he has flowers in his hand.

He never want to get too close with anyone for he thinks living in reality is living by yourself.

He does not care what people think when he behave weird. He could be walking bare feet and laughing at people who laugh at him and think they are so narrow minded. He does not likes to follow conformity, but always want to search for new ventures, new mystery. He will interest in a life of a millionaire as much as a life of an old man selling newspaper on a sidewalk vendor.

He likes to search and analyze people and things. He will analyze his friends or his girl friend, and once the mystery is gone, he will search for new puzzle to solve. He can not easily understand thing, so he will gradually learning about you till he fills up all his questions.

He knows so many people, but he has a few friends. He looks for quality friends than quantity friends. He will be close with some friends shortly and move on. He always feel lonely even surround by many people. He could create his own little world, and sometimes no one would understand him. He looks only for future and he thinks he lives for the future. He may wonder
how many people think like he does, but he does not want to be like the others.

A man with a conflict personality. He is a cool, understanding, able to work well, and very artistic. Taurus man could be an artist. He could shock you as much as he is able to clam you down when you up set. He is a free spirit who likes venture, but when he wants to be alone, do not touch him but to let him be. He won't disappear from the crowds too long, he will be back.

He will give you straight forward opinion or comments, but will never advice what he thinks you should do. He does not like people to tell him what he should do too. He thinks each individual dreams and thoughts should be very private. He will use his brain not his body strength, so he will let other guys compete. He has a certain satisfactory in life and hate to force
himself in competition. He may seems careless, but actually he is a thinker and a stubborn one.

He sees anythings in details and not easily trusted people till he thinks he knows them well. You can just smile and he will think why and what are you smiling about, and if you are pretending. Once he trust you and accept you as a friend, no one can says other wise to change that for he will not listen to gossip. He will be honest and sincere to his friends.

He hates lies, so he will not tell you lies. If he finds it is necessary to lie, he will find other ways not to tell you or avoid telling you anything. If he really has to lie, you will never be able to tell that he is lying. He can really keep secrets, so you will hardly know that he is a lonely soul. {uh oh, this gets me into a lot of troubles..hehhe}

If you want this kind of guy, you have to be an interesting person. He has to be curious about you. Hell for him is "No Freedom", so if he marry you then you should know it is the biggest decision in his life. Always be interesting, then you could have him beside you

i'm lovin my great tv

there are so much more reasons i am stayin' home these days aside from the escalating inflation rate that hits all of us folks here in malaysia, particularly those in kay-hell, ever since the govt took away the subsidies of petrol and further increased it by 20%.

isn't it bad enough there are tolls everywhere (one of which posed a great danger to us that led to a lot of attention in the public for all the wrong reasons) . anyways, i am not here to talk about politics or how the govt run their biz. i wanna talk abt Wentworth Miller.

WHO?

.......................................................................................................................................

i mean, Prison Break and then, Wentworth Miller *preen* ... and other new tv series. Prison Break was recently shown on great tv, i mean, 8tv. the pilot of the show had me glued to my sofa that i did not care to switch channel to AXN, which was showing Lost. no, it was not just Wentworth Miller that had me glued on the tv. it was the story ... u kinda want to knw how this Structural Engineer plot his way out from the prison with his brother and, how would the story go from there. so every monday, im staying home for Lost and Prison Break, tho, the two shows are shown almost at the same time.

and the Desperate Housewives are back on our national tv, of which i have seen about 6 episodes of season 2. it is still very entertaining but Susan had me up the my head tat i feel like strangling her! or secretly wish that the black neighbour would kill her character off. she's a total loser.

and last but not least, the csi series. csi new york is back with season two with a big bang! new casts and new look! much more groovy than before which was gloomy & a tad bit serious. csi vegas is as always the best of the lot. the characters are much more believable & the stories have almost always leave us wanting for more.

there. 5 new tv series and a whole lot of other craps on tv. im lovin' it. ba da ba ba baaaa...

perhentian, sudirman dan ... keju?

finally, i've posted some pics from my recent trip to perhentian, which i miss dearly. sigh. for more pictures click here: playgr_d

i had a great time w/ my frens over the weekend. one came over to kay-el frm cat city for work and the other got back from Anchorage, Alaska after 2 years skinning walruses there. ok i kid abt the last part. pls don't hate me, cheese :P we first planned to visit "Library, Bar & Lounge" at the Ritz Carlton as suggested by razzle dazzle. but, we changed our plan cos ad said the Souled Out ppl had recently opened a new place at The Ascott called, "789" and i thought we oughta check it out. after picking up everyone (yes, i was the chaffeur), we checked out the aforementioned place. it was packed and noisy & that was not the kinda place the majority of us would like to be in. so, we detoured to "Library, Bar & Lounge", which was our first choice. true to it's name-sake, it was... quiet, cold and very lounge-y. it was too quiet we can't stand it. henceforth, we walked over to west-in & the lounge was too 'adult' to some (no, no, not in a kinky way); tho, "qBa" on the lower ground floor looks like it has got potential. we skipped, nonetheless.

so we ended up in "Tiffin Bay", Starhill. it was my very first time there after it was opened for many months. i love that place but i can't say for the iffy uniform of the waitresses and also the yawn inducing view - of thick bamboos & fake maple leaves; also the mediocre performance of the singer on that nite.

the place has got plush furniture w/ cool fabrics. mainly, sofas in assorted shapes & sizes whilst the single armless chairs are fabricated using fabric of different colours & motives. i absolutely love the floor lamps, too, which they used crockery (white porcelain & stainless steel) stacked and glued on to each other as it's stand. ingenius, isnt it? and here's the best bit: the drinks are so affordable. a bottle of wine is RM89.00 - of cos, it is not of the top quality ones. i'm definitely returning.

the night did not end there. we proceeded to lq, half buzzed and forcing charo to tag along. i danced a little bit to the kinda music mixFm plays, and some of my frens went upstairs to check out the scene. i was not crazy getting squashed w/ the muscle marys & the twinks. jus rather sit back and relax w/ my fren & bitched abt the guy who looks like the late Sudirman but danced like there was no tomorrow (it was appalling, if u must know). i absolutely had a lot of fun. thanks to 'keju' aka Cheese, no less.

10 things I hate about Jude Law

  1. He’s got a darn cool name
  2. He’s fcking good looking
  3. He’s got a beautiful girlfriend
  4. He’s got two beautiful kids with really cool names, Rafferty and Iris
  5. He bonked his nanny. And, got away with it. And got HEAPS of publicity at that
  6. He is a very good actor. Not convinced? Watch ‘Talented Mr. Ripley’, ‘AI’, ‘Alfie’ amongst others
  7. He is rich
  8. He shows off his ‘little brother’ on-screen …that’s a lot of guts. You don’t see mr ‘pukey’ Cruise does it. Not even Brad Pitt
  9. He is the new face for Dunhill’s latest men couture campaign and he looks darn good (again)
  10. He looks good even on a tabloid magazine

kiss kiss, bang bang

first up, the subject matter is not in anyway with reference to the latest porn i've downloaded. it is a movie that was released last year that did not even get to reach the censorship board because i can assure you the ppl who are responsible to bring in movies to the bigscreen locally think it is too much hassle. why? it has too much violence, containes nudity and foul language. so why bother.

second left, i read about this movie sometime back and was looking forward to check it out at the local 'dvd stores' because of the interesting plot and good reviews (and, robert downey jr.). alas, i totally forgotten to do so whenever i am in one. i am almost always distracted with other stuff, if not pornography. *blush* then, ad pointed out to me that they've got 'kiss kiss, bang bang' in the place where we usually purchase our dvds and he was very keen to see it. momentarily i was unable to connect with him when he mentioned that show until i saw the dvd. i thought i had to buy it tho' i was a little reluctant cos im tryin' to be prudent lately *blush again*

third right, the movie revolves around the life of wanna-be actors and actresses, a gay producer and a rich and successful tv host. in between there were plenty of surprises. it is dark humour at it's best, and the way the story was told, filmed and edited was impeccable. it was almost like 'snatch'. very guy richie. i felt it was a come-back for robert downey jr. and val kilmer. but it didn't take off like when 'pulp fiction' was released, which made john travolta famous again, albeit a rather short-lived one.

and final down, it is a must watch for all movie buff.

confession of a panda-lover

aren't they an adorable bunch?

"what the hell? it's just pandas, u wuss!" would probably be most ppl's reaction. see, im not crazy abt animals or any specific sort of animals. but, when i see a panda, i will naturally feel warm and fuzzy and totally let go of my masculinity (whatever there's left). i do not know why. once i completely watched a documentary on care-taking these cuddly animals in china and the methods used to ensure that pandas will not extinct. it was very touching that i actually teared. i was 12 then. funny. isnt it?

get life, no style

hola! i had just came back from Pulau Perhentian! i had a lot of fun and a lot of tan for the four days i was there! hehe... managed to get my mind cleared off a bit and relax. it was nothing but eat, sleep, snorkel, eat, games, drinks, eat, sleep, and more snorkelling. totally away from the crazy traffic and chaotic life in the city.

im so glad i was there (not back)

i just saw the firrrst episode of 'life in style', a talk show created and hosted by socilalite Ms Mi-Ki Choong on 8tv. it was appalling! her presentatation was mediocre. her hair was so flat it makes her face looks like 'char siew pao'. an oily one if i must add. the design and concept scream boring!! i was cringing listening to her interviewing Datin Tiara Jacquelina. Tiara must be like, 'Girl, stop bobbing ur head! and ask intelligent questions!'

bad. so bad. whoever wanna come up with a talk show should totally watch it to learn a thing or two. we need not a talk show that not only WOW us but give us that BANG factor! like, i got it! millions will tune it and all yaknw. like 'Simple Life'. man, i hate to admit this but watching paris hilton and nicole richie doin' their thang (not much but acting all stupid and blonde, really) was more fun.

well, tune in and drop out. lay-ta.

we don't need a reason

i am relieved but i am unhappy. it is unclear or unknown to me why is that so.

maybe i was agitated with the car salesman who sorta raised his voice when i questioned his integrity. i have, as a customer, all the rights to question him in any ways i want to because i am givin' him biz. is it wrong to question him if the 2nd hand car dealer is paying me cash or cheque to take over my car? and, if it is cheque, i would prefer to release the car only after the cheque is cleared? what if he took my car and the check was invalid? it is not an uncommon practice in malaysia to do that (wait for the cheque to be cleared) and i was not implying that i do not trust him. i was merely checking with him and am protecting my interest. it is not a small amount we are talking about here eventho he thinks otherwise.

fuck. i knew i will regret it when i've chosen him over the other guy to purchase the car. i hate to feel not trustworthy but i am so fed up of ppl taking advantage of me. so sick.

perhaps, i should get over this and accept the fact that there are simply ppl like him out there and that i should not feel guilty. he, i believe now, is indeed the poorest performer in his company in comparison with his other colleagues and that was a confession he made to me. of cos, everything he said before, i took it with a pinch of salt.

the other thing that is bothering me is that the govt announced that local and imported cars price will be reduced. when? we do not know. and because of this announcement, i had to sit down and contemplate if i should buy this car now or wait. my boss was overjoyed when she picked up the news this mornin' and shared the news with me when i clocked in. but, i was torn.

in fact some 2 years back, they (the govt) said the same thing and nothing concrete followed up after that. perhaps, the increase of petrol price and the obvious economy slowdown and inflation are indication that they should implement the price reduction sooner than they had planned. but this is the govt we're talking about here. they are fickle-minded and unpredictable. i can either wait and be letdown by a mere 5% reduction but a higher bank interest rate or snap up the deal that has been offered to me now.

i did some quick calculation. the difference, even by 10% reduction, is not so significant. unless, perhaps, i'm buying a beemer or an SUV.

holidays / get together

6 more days!

...and im off to Perhentian! i am so lookin' forward to it cos im a beach bum. i love the beaches, the sun and the cold beer. im just gonna plonk myself on da beach and get "toasted"! hehe...

next week would be a darn busy week cos ive got quite a lot to do before i go on leave. on top of that, my dear fren, charo, is hopping over to kay-el from cat city for work. PLUS, cheesy chee seng is back on monday from the states! awesome.

i will attempt to lure them to the brand spanking new, and chic alexis restaurant in bsc for our get-together. it is one of my fav. restaurants in town at the moment because of the modern contemporary design that isnt too minimalist that it is stark. the clever use of space and minimal colours ie grey, white, black and an assortment colours from the products, plants, food, and beverages, retain what alexis is - simple and tasteful. from the clinical white arabescato marble top with grey grains for it's bar counter top to the designer lightings and chairs. very tasteful eventhough it does remind me somehow of a particular cafe/bar in bangkok.

let's hope my frens are game.

it's like drag

"I am prepared and ready to cut off (the friendship)"

i will never forget these words, which were conveyed to me by a fren thru another fren. and these were words uttered by this person whom i've once considered as a good fren and also at one period of time, the mere mentioned of his name will easily ticked me off.

i have, however, come to terms with it - that doesnt mean we are frens again. it is just that i have learned to move on and there are so many things to experience than just look back and get pissed. it's unworthy cos really i cant be bothered by ... well, unnecessary people. good riddance, they said. darn right.

i just have to be careful in trusting frens. i think in life we go thru stuff like this and i have to accept it. for what it's worth, i am happier now.

HAWT! mtvs:

'Black Sweat' from Prince
i love prince and i don care what you say. he's a genius and his music, i dare to say, sexy. especially this hot new single

'Stupid Girl' from Pink
this song cracks me up everytime i watched it. she spoofed so many 'stupid girls' frm hollywood. i like that car wash bit spoofing BOTH jessica 'stupid' simpson and paris 'slut' hilton. and, this is a damn fun song, too!

'Pump it' from BEP
one of the guys from Black Eyed Peas must be darn creative cos their videos are always so cool! this song is not my fav. from their latest album, 'Monkey Business'; however, the mtv is something else albeit too short!

'Life' from Ricky Martin
love the bit where he poured those damn milk on his baw-day! muahahaha....

Shenanigan Bits:

  1. i recently bought a book from Borders, 'Running with Scissors' by Augusten Burroughfor (RM57.00), which is a pretty damn good read. But, guess what? i have read the book 1/2 year ago. a same fucking book! and it was 2 weeks into reading it that i found out about it. stupido-level: 9.5!

  2. feng-shui, i believe. but, Massage Chair AND feng-shui? That's too damn much, Ms Too. too damn much *grrrrr* stupido-level: 10!

  3. my driving's license expired about a month ago, and i only found out yesterday. stupido-level: 6.5!

  4. an article from the newspaper yesterday reported that 'if a person runs alone, especially those who get up early in the morning for their morning jog, they will become stupider. this is because the activity does not generate brain cell.' and quote my boss, 'if you bitch, it sharpens your mind. therefore, i have an excuse to bitch'. stupido-level: to be determined.

dude, how is this car?

the first time i laid my eyes on a Suzuki Swift, it was love at first like, like all things with great designs. ipod, sony ericsson w810 (walkman phone series), motorola razr & silvr, murano glass chandelier (see picture below), flos range of lightings, Giogali chandelier, and the many funky stuff found here ... Design within Reach.

i'd use everything from this place to decor my house!

but i digress.

yes, Swift. love at first sight. but reality sets in when i saw the price tag of the car. RM84 grand for this little fella? i know it's sexy, sporty and it suits me, but, RM84 grand? no way jose!

and, that was months ago. im now back shopping for cars again cos just last week a Chevrolet car promo at The Curve made me think about getting a new car because the deal is friggin' darn good! They basically are giving the buyer RM4k for any purchase of their car! OR, you could opt for a brand new DELL laptop, SONY video cam etc for each purchase. so, that lured me to look at Aveo5, which isn't too bad except that im quite bothered by the round dashboard, round air-con um, 'window'? hehe... everything is roundish inside the car! nevertheless, the salesperson was very friendly. within 2 days he actually called up and arranged with me to see how much my car is valued at if i were to trade-in with them. very efficient i must say, and they are givin' me a pretty good deal. but i need a 2nd opinion. thus, i started asking around...

the response wasn't very encouraging at all, to say the least, especially from my brother in law who knows a lot about cars. he adviced me about the resell value, the maintenance, particularly the expensive spare parts and worse, the lack of it. i thought to myself, should i be affected with what he had adviced me? i did more research about this car online and asked around my friends. some was clueless, others had given me more than i need - thanks, dan! after much thought, my attention is back on Swift, again! i made an appointment to see the showroom in Aman Suria this evening for a test drive.

THE RESULT: Sssssssmoking! very smooth, very quiet - it's like, driving in a beemer. absolutely comfortable and very stylish and sexy. i feel sexy driving that car! ad was at the rear sit and he totally likes it, too. and the best bit, they are givin' me a darn good deal! it's a 5 star definitely for a compact car. my only and the littlest problem is that the passenger seat (rear seat) is a tad too small. oh wat the hell!

sis adviced me earlier to consider Toyota Vios, which is not a bad sedan, really. chinese r a practical bunch - they buy cars that are big, interior and exterior, high resell value, low maintenance.... basically, they want the best out of the kaching they are paying. [no offence to those who do not fall into this category] i understand her concern and she wants the best for me. but i'm gonna go against the grain.

*taking a deeeeeeeeeep breath*

crash, broke, BLAH!

and the best picture goes to... 'CRAP'.

alrite, alrite. i am still hung up over the fact that Brokeback Mountain (BM) did not win the Best Picture in the recent oscar. and i am utterly disappointed with the oscar committees for voting Crash over BM. i knw some of you mite think that i am voting for BM cos im PLU, and therefore, i support BM more than any of the movies nominated. wrong.

aamof, i rooted for BM for this category because ang lee directed a movie on a subject that no one dares to touch - homosexuality. not especially if ur a director who is famed for churning out blockbusters/big hits. no one does a gay movie cos it just doesnt sell! and on top of that, there are just too many bigots and stereotyping honchos out there that do not or will not want to be associated with such a taboo subject.

BM is beautiful love story with great cinematography and screenplay adapted from an equally good writer. The talented young casts were another good reason that this movie deserves the award. and, the director, ang lee, who believes that no subject is not worth an attempt as long as it is for the sake of art. Crash, well, is an intensely emotional story about racism. i cant help but to compare it with Amores Pedros, directed by Alejandro Gonzalez Inniaritu, which is my all time favorite movie, but Crash. mmmmm ...

oscar, the amazing race

the rich, the famous, the beautiful, the artistic, the narcistic, the fucked ups the ugly ...

yes, it is the time of the year again. no, im not talking about The American Idol 5 (which is gettin' a tad bit boring esp the friggin' Simon Cowell and his predictable comments) but, The Oscars which will be telecast live via satellite come Monday the 6th. i have just sent out email to some of my friends to fill up the Oscar Ballot and asked them to vote for their favorites or the nominee that is likely to win in the different categories.

  1. BEST PICTURE: Brokeback Mountain
  2. BEST DIRECTOR: Ang Lee for BrokeBack Mountain
  3. BEST ACTOR: Philip Seymour Hoffman for Capote (Heath deserves it, too; but, a flamboyant/psychotic and gay investigator? It's gotta be Phillip Seymour cos he long deserves this recognition)
  4. BEST ACTRESS: Reese Witherspoon for Walk the Line
  5. BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS: Rachel Weisz for The Constant Gardener
  6. BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR: George Clooney for Syriana (Jake was good but George Clooney was believable)
  7. BEST ART DIRECTION: King Kong!
  8. BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY: Brokeback Mountain
  9. BEST ORIGINAL SONG: Travellin' Thru for Transamerica
  10. BEST SCORE: Brokeback Mountain
  11. BEST VISUAL EFFECTS: King Kong!
  12. BEST ANIMATED FEATURE: Wallace & Gromit in the Curse of the Were-Rabbit

And the amazing race is on! Yes, both at the Oscar and The Amazing Race, season 9! i've got some favorite teams and teams that i totally loathe, such as 'The Frosties' and the 'Pink Girls' (they epitomise the 'Stupid Girls' in Pink's latest video...ooo Pink and Stupid Girls and Pink Girls. hmm...uncanny). too bad that the 'girly' boys were eliminated last week cos i tot it would be fun to see them in the race esp. with their hilarious remarks and antics.

Brokeback Mountain

first up, i (finally!) watched the critically-acclaimed, multiple awards nominee and winner (8 up for oscars & Best Movie in the Golden Globe and The 2005 International Venice Film Award) and the most talk about and controversial movie of last year, 'Brokeback Mountain'.

my brother wants to watch the movie. My friend's conservative mother has shown interest to see it. Ah Beng looking for it at the VCD/DVD stores/vendors. My (current) favourite DVD/VCD shop owner, who happens to look like a Redneck herself, said that the copies they managed to get hold off flew off the shelf like hot cakes. i'm only left with 3 copies. Better decide fast. She said. threats don't work for me, dude. but...

i called my dear fren who had text me earlier to say that she's seen it and that she would pass a *unprintable* for me. hey, you got a copy of BM? Yes, i do and it is quite clear. But the accent is .... so difficult to understand la! This copy hasnt got any subtitle. She lamented. Don't worry. I'll wait for your copy. I told her. promptly after that, i told redneck that i'd give it a pass. she shrugged and, snorted, i think.

every friggin' queer in the queerdom talked about this movie and how much they cried (some balled, mind you) watching it. even the latest season of American Idol mocked a contestant by doing a 15 minute 'trailer' and called it 'Brokenote Mountain'. poor Gareth - the contestant tho that was like, the highlight of the show for that particular episode and so farking funny, too.

so what's the fuss?

ang lee had pulled together a fantastic cast - young and highly talented stars, selected a beautiful script and filmed it so magically that you wish you were herding sheeps on the magnificent and astounding scenic mountains, which Jack (Jake Gyllenhaal) calls it the Brokeback Mountain. i never imagined heath ledger could pull off such emotional and strong character, and i applaud him for suceeding it. he reminds me a lot of my past and i can relate what he and jack had to go through. ultimately, it is him that drove jack away. and it is him that caused the tragic end. he, ledger, is the moving force in the entire movie. he deserves a nod in the oscar. on the question of whether he will win it is still highly questionable because he is competing with the very talented philip seymour of 'Copote'. one problem tho. the american (southern) accent is so thick. ad and i were sitting so close to our tv, any noise would've missed what they say.

i saw 'Crash' about 6 months ago. i love the movie. but, it is undeserving to win Best Picture. im all for 'Brokeback'.

"Brokeback Mountain is not quite the period piece that some would like to imagine. America's squeaky closet doors may have swung open far enough for a gay rodeo circuit to flourish. But let's not kid ourselves. In large segments of American society, especially in sports and the military, those doors remain sealed. The murder of Matthew Shepard, after all, took place in Brokeback territory. Another recent film, Jarhead (in which Mr. Gyllenhaal plays a marine), suggests how any kind of male behavior perceived as soft and feminine within certain closed male environments triggers abuse and violence and how that repression of sexual energy is directly channeled into warfare.

Yet Brokeback Mountain is ultimately not about sex (there is very little of it in the film) but about love: love stumbled into, love thwarted, love held sorrowfully in the heart.

Or, as Ms. Proulx writes, "What Jack remembered and craved in a way he could neither help nor understand was the time that distant summer on Brokeback when Ennis had come up behind him and pulled him close, the silent embrace satisfying some shared and sexless hunger." One tender moment's reprieve from loneliness can illuminate a life.

"A Landmark. Moving and majestic! Heath Ledger magically and mysteriously disappears into the skin of his character. It is a great screen performance as good as the best of Marlon Brando and Sean Penn." Stephen Holden, THE NEW YORK TIMES.

"An instant classic. An epic American love story!" A.M Homes, VANITY FAIR

"Heath Ledger's wrenching performance is the stuff of Hollywood history." Mahnola Dargis, THE NEW YORK TIMES

Mc fab!

'im lovin' it, ba da ba ba baaaa...' that's exactly what im singin' for this super-cool mcDonald's website from down under that i stumbled on this afternoon. it is very informative, colourful (they use very good images with strong vibrant colours against the black bg) & effective. the flash work is darn impressive! best bit, they've got a Nutritional Facts section where you could select from 'the menu', place it on the 'tray' and voila! it'll tell u how much of calories ur eating for a Big Mac or nuggets.

i was, for that half an hr, salivating while browsing through the website. then, reality dawned on me and reminded me that on 'Abs Diet' book, fast food is a no no if u want a flat stomach. sien. anyways, the aussie mcD is much, MUCH better compared to the local ones cos they've got more, should i say, healthy selections on their menu. i especially love the toasts, yogurt, mueslis and salads. if McDonald's of Malaysia is reading this, pls introduce more 'alternative' selections for your menu. pretty pls? cos i betcha, us, gym/work-out/sports enthusiasts will patronise mcD every other day if not everyday!

top 5 curry laksa

yes, our shop's cafe is voted as the top 5 restaurants and/or cafe that serves the best "curry laksa" in the whole of malaysia! by a local english daily, The News Straits Times! i am not sure if it incl. sabah & sarawak but what i am damn blinking sure is that it is a very flattering article for our business.

one problem tho'... it is solely based on the writer's opinion and tastebuds. so it can be quite subjective. nonetheless, that is something we can be proud of for a long time.

here's the top 5 by shannon teoh of nst: -

1. Kuantan: Kedai Kopi Hai Peng. For those in the know, Hai Peng is synonymous with that great brew of coffee from Kemaman but their new branch in Kuantan, run by the original owner’s grandson, serves up a wicked curry laksa as well. The operator, who used to be based in KL, has a concoction that has elements of asam laksa but it doesn’t overload the senses as the entire broth is of a lighter consistency than average. At only RM3.50, this pork-free dish is good value for an enjoyable main course or as a hearty snack.Location: 36, Jalan Haji Abdul Aziz, in the middle of the banking “district”.

2. Ipoh: The Yat Yat Seng Restaurant is a neighbourhood coffeeshop famous for its curry mee and pie tee. People order the latter as a snack or appetiser while waiting for the former. The curry has very little or no santan, and comes with your choice of roast pork, shredded chicken or prawn (or maybe you’d like to have all three?). Open for breakfast and lunch. If you go during the festive season or public holidays, be prepared to wait. A bowl can set you back anything from RM4 to RM6 depending on your specification. Worth every ringgit. Not halal.Location: 83, Jalan Dato Lau Pak Khuan, Ipoh Garden.

3. Penang: Restoran Lorong Seratus Tahun Curry Mee. The gravy is noticeably different from versions in other states, using a lot of stock and less coconut milk, making it more watery. Ingredients include cuttlefish, quail eggs, fish balls and jellied cubes of pork blood, obviously an acquired taste. Apart from the shop at Lorong Seratus Tahun which opens from morning to evening, it has established two branches, one nearby on Jalan Anson and another in SS2, Petaling Jaya.Location: Lorong Seratus Tahun, near Melaka Street and Jalan Anson

4. Segambut: Restoran Yu Ai. The seafood curry laksa is our target but this famous restaurant offers its seafood noodle in clear soup and tom yam as well. No matter the gravy, the seafood includes brown squid, juicy mussels, tiny clam shells that require some work andfour orfive prawns with heads attached. Yu Ai’s curry is deep and complex, with layers of warm spices. Open 8am to 5pm, expect to pay higher-than-average prices due to the bounty of seafood. For urbanites, there are branches in USJ, Subang Jaya and SS2, Petaling Jaya.Location: 42J, Jalan Segambut Utara.

5. Kuala Lumpur: House + Co. Inside this interior decoration store lies a small cafe that serves up a rich nyonya laksa for lunch. Yes, it’s pricey at RM15 a pop but it comes in a serving that’ll put away any thoughts of teatime. As expected from a nyonya laksa, it’s got plenty of santan that sweetens and deflects any overt spiciness and goes down with significance. This halal dish has got the character to match the ambience.Location: Lot 2.15, 2nd Floor, Bangsar Shopping Centre. {picture from House + Co}

con-figure-ass

arghhhhhhhhhh...... im havin' some difficulty in conFIGURING the wireless router i've purchased recently cos we are using mac at home. callin' the support team from netgear didnt do much help cos they sounded a) cranky b) heavily accented ie india c) too much white noise over the telephone and d) "sorry sir we are not very familiar with mac". WTF!

apparently it is toll free so i sure hope my cellphone bill didnt come up to a bomb. sigh

on a slightly happier note, i cant wait to see madonna performing at the grammy's tomorrow with the gorillaz. yay! and and american idol - all selected candidates will be flown to ho ho hollywood for the first round of elimination. cant farking wait
