better me better you

i have noticed. i have noticed recently that there is an emerging brand of "health products" in Klang Valley. and, it has become a successful direct marketing strategy drawn by one of those smart business persons just like the success stories that at one point of our life we all have heard from insurance companies, Amway, Cosway, Diamond water etc.

Herbalife. sounds familiar? kinda heard it from a friend or saw it somewhere? yes, it might be the car sticker on the back of the car that was in front of you this morning when you were on your way for breakfast. or, it could be one of your friends whom is taking the product/s and live to tell you the benefits it has given to him/her and how it has changed his/her life since. cliche, no? FYI, Herbalife markets weight management products among others (weight management products are supposedly their core products and their money-making products for the company).

no. i am not about to sell you any Herbalife products. neither am i goin' to start criticising it. i am not doin' any of the above. instead, i'd like to talk about Exercise.

Physical exercise, by definition of Wikipedia Encyclopedia, "is the performance of some activity in order to develop or maintain physical fitness and overall health. Exercises are generally grouped into three types depending on the overall effect they have on the human body:

According to research, frequent physical exericise is believed to prevent and cure major illnesses such as high blood pressure, heart diseases, obesity, Type 2 diabetes, imsonia and depression. And, exercise helps us to think and plan better by increasing the blood and oxygen flow to the brain. It also increases the growth factors that help creates new nerve cells and most importantly increase chemicals in the brain that help cognition.

point is, why rely solely on the consumption of products for weight management?

point is, do we even know for a fact that these products have done a breakthrough research and it is safe to consume it for weight lose? what will happened if we break out from it ie stop consuming it. can one still lose weight?

point is, physical exercise should be the way to weight management. proper diet should be the way to weight management. sufficient sleep/rest should be the way to weight management. not solely dependent on products in losing weight.

to quote Ron White from my previous post on the 3 Things we must do in our life, we must "exercise weekly in order to stimulate endorphins and maintain an energetic life. The exercise of walking to the kitchen or curling 12 ounces does not count as exercise."

He said, "I run 1 mile twice a week and 2-3 days a week do strength training. This is nothing difficult but it makes a major difference on my attitude."
