Truly, madly, Fitness

I have been a very loyal gym member with a local gym club for, 4 years now? Never had I thought of switching club when all the other new gym clubs opened its doors all over Klang Valley like mushrooms after the rain. There are the Yoga fitness centre, the Gold Club, the California club, the Disco club ... oops, I mean, celebrity club and yeah, you get the drift.

Basically, when a new club opened its door to the public, they’d screamed ‘bigger space’, ‘better facilities’ and ‘much more studios to accommodate the "usually crowded small gym" all across Klang Valley.’

I didn't buy it. Tho' I must admit I was a little curious. Still, I did not attempt to get a free pass to check out other gyms cos I simply like my fitness first in my regular gym. Besides, I like that I get to visit all the clubs all over Klang Valley whenever and whichever I like – but, seriously, I only patronize the PJ outlets J

So, I switched job 2 months ago and yes, near where I work, they are opening another larger than life gym. Of course, I am tempted by the convenience which prompted me to take the free pass and checked out the PJ outlet 2 days back. A young, fresh face “Fitness Consultant” came quickly and attended to me.

FC: Hi! I am Vince. How are you ah today? (in Cantonese)

Me: I am good. Thank you.

FC: So you want to try out our gym. You do fitness?

Me: Yes, of course. In fact, I am a member of * club* for 4 years now.

FC: Wow! Really ah? *He nodded profoundly* So, what is your fitness goal ah?

FITNESS GOALS? Gee, that totally caught me off guard. I tried to think of something intelligent and said,

I simply want to work out to stay sane. (It’s true!)

Not at all intelligent cos Mr. Fresh face gave me a puzzle look.

Me: Yes, I am very stressed out at work and I need to work out to have a fresh mind. You know, the whole Body, Mind and Soul thing?

FC: So you want to lose weight?

Fuck.

Me: Yes, I feel like John Travolta in Hair Spray, you know.

FC: Err…. Ok. He totally missed the punchline.

Mr. Fresh face proceeds to ask the usual questions i.e. how often do I go to the gym (3 times at least). Do I want to look fit, tone up etc? (No, I wanna continue to look like John Travolta from Hair Spray).

And he proceeded to show me around the gym where I was mostly checking out the interior design of the place more than I checked out the fitness machines or how massive the place is – FYI, they did not stinge in doing up the place. Good quality stuff ; I was quite impressed.

After the tour, we got to the best part of the club. The “infinity pool” and spa on level 4.

Could I dive into the pool now and swim a few laps. And after that, could you get me a glass of martini. Dry?

Of course, that was just my imagination. I didn’t want to scare Mr. Fresh face off. Besides, he obviously doesn’t have a funny bone in him. So, I just smiled with approval. Later back in level 1, he went to seek for a Personal Instructor to measure my total fat in my body, blood pressure and heart rate.

Total Fat: 24.1%.
Percentage more than 24% is considered, gulp, OBESE! And, I’m fucking OBESE! By 0.1%!!!! NOW, I do feel like John Travolta in Hair Spray :(

Blood Pressure: Normal

Resting Heart Rate: 55

“Wow, you are … very fit! Do you do sports?” asked the PT.

“Nope. Just gym.” I replied smugly.

“Very good lah. Now we can start with our first PT session.

The one hour PT session was OK followed up by another 30 mins chilling out at the “infinity pool” at the “roof top”.

Ah. Now, that was pure joy. I could sit there entire day reading a book, trust me.

I must say at the end of the day, I was very pleased with the service and especially the facilities. I might just switch.

Strange Sunday

It is a strange Sunday.

I got into the city, and I thought I was in Mumbai. No offence, really. I got a bit exciting, my adrenaline was rushing and the first thought that came into my head was....

I don't have to work! Cos the road is closed!

No. Ok, not that but...

Damn, where is my camera when I needed it!

Every photog would love to be there esp. if there are the hardcore ones. I would do it if I've got my telephoto (some day).

TVLAND

Of cos I was not in The Amazing Race Asia season 2 (TARA2). Hmmph... a little peeved cos we were not called up for audition; but, we will apply again for season 3. Anyways, we did not stop ourselves from watching season 2 simply because there are a few good looking teams from the Philipines, Indonesia, Thailand and Malaysia - yeah, we love the Chong's sisters! ( Vince Chong's biological sisters, I heard - correct me if I'm wrong). How not to love when they chowed down all 8 of the disgusting embryo duck eggs within minutes in Philipines that I heard it is pretty darn nasty. Urgh...

I also like the Thai girls as well and no, erase all the visuals you'd just have of the Thai masseurs in Thailand or the go-go girls dancing on the polls. These two speaks well, fun and quite hot. So this season will be pretty exciting to say the least esp. when we have a ahem, a "gym buddy" couple from Singapore.

The Fall season over in the US of A introduced to us a lot of new tv series some of which took off pretty well especially The Gossip Girls - hot casts, too, I tell ya. I have picked up the show, Pushing Daisies, instead. The pilot, Pie Hole, is so ... quirky. I'm liking it a lot. Cute casts (hehehe), I like Ned's (Lee Pace) "super-cute-power" and how the whole show is kinda like Edward Scissorhands meet The Adam's Family. Very addictive and it leaves a quirky warm feelings.

Want some Strawberries pie?

Of course, there is your regular Grey's Anatomy (so-so), Ugly Betty (sooo darn funny after the aw-so-darn-cheesy episode one), ANTM 9 (they're going to Shanghai yo!), and of cos, Project Runway 4! Finally!

Plenty of gay guys, lots of dramas I foresee and the competition will be very stiff especially since most of the contestants have very strong background in fashion. This is going to be one damn good season, I'd say. Haven't got a fav just yet; maybe, the kooky yoga-loving Elisa (I'm not sure how long she can stay but she is pretty good at what she does just that she has to not try so hard).

Stay tune.

Happy Ending (Part I)

It is closing to the year end. The retailiers are busy prepping their store with Xmas ornaments, like, yours truly (which I truly enjoy doing; seriously). In retrospect, 2007 (up till today) has been a hell of a busy year.

I am closing the year by counting down "My Favourite 2007 Year-End Songs".

1. Colbie Caillat's Bubbly .... So. Ahhhhhhhhh........ I need a holiday. LOL. I hope she doesnt become too popular. Sincerely.

2. Mika's Happy Ending .... Love him for being so eccentric, so creative - both in music and everything he does; and he rocked Munich recently at the EMA performing another fav "Grace Kelly". And if he is gay or not, oh who cares. Focus on what he does best, people.

3. Nicole Scherzinger's "Whatever You Like"...Yeah hot number.

To be continued...

Pose, pose, poser

Everytime I'm given a new project or assignment, I will get all excited and nervous. New project means new challenges which means more stress - that, rather strangely, I'd usually get a kick out of it (to a certain extent).

So when a friend approached me to do a photo shoot for him, I was like, "YAY! Finally a volunteer but on the other hand I went like..."

The thing is I’m not even good at portrait, yet; But since it is an experimental, I think I will go ahead and do something whacky. Or, something like what Hedi Slimane did.

Ironically, I did a photo shoot of myself just yesterday; involuntarily. The photograhers were very professional complete with honey-combs and "umbrellas" and of course, his ever so reliable cameras and Mac Book Pro. For that 15 minutes, I felt like a "star" but it wasn't easy. I wish I was behind the camera giving instructions, instead. Hehehe... We'll see if I get to keep some of the pics.

Meantime, I will have to pay a visit at my fav. 2nd hand or rather out-dated magazine stores in Amcorp Mall pretty soon.

11th & Us

The story began all the way back to three years ago at Pizza Uno,

A young fresh OZ undergrad had mistakenly walked to a lady's car,
(instead of mine)
I gawked inside my car smirking at your foolishness.
And, believe you me it was a classic moment :)
That seems just like yesterday.

Your relentless optimism,
Imbued me with a sense of hope and a drive to do more;
Your selfless personality,
And caring nature never failed to disappoint me;
(in more times than I could imagine)

At the 11th hour on the 11th day of November,
I'm wishing that our lives will continue to grow;
Continue to have more "classic moments",
Continue to have more laughters
And to continue a journey
That you and I could one day be very well proud of.

Happy Birthday, B.

ps: Sorry its slightly way past 12am now. But tomorrow we can start baking! Yay! Oh my lousy attempt to be erm, poetic :P

Who wants to be a "Millionaire"?

When was the last time you've played Monopoly? Yesterday? Last week? A decade ago? Ok I am not surprised at all if it was a decade ago.

For me, it was at least 3 - 4 years ago. Then, I was playing the good old fashion Monopoly (boardgame) and if I remember it correctly, it was a Taiwan or Hong Kong version that comes with "monopoly monies". Fully laminated. No, they did not have a limited edition for that, it's just that my good friend, C, laminated all her monopoly monies simply because she is quite anal retentive. In a good way. Seriously cos at that time of our discovery, we were quite quite pleased with what she did cos the "monies" didn't stink nor crumpled up like salted vegetables. There were plenty of editions out there ie Harry Potter, The Simpsons, Hong Kong, Malaysia, to name just a few.

Yesterday, however, I've discovered a brand new (to my knowledge-lah) Monopoly known as the "The Here & Now Edition" (UK edition) that uses "Electronic Banking Machine and Bank Card".

Yes. You've read it. Each player will be given a "Bank Card that has a value of 15,000mil pound." 15,000 friggin' million a much higher stake and of cos, with that value given, the property prices is in the range of 1mil to 3mil pound. There is also an "Eletronic Banking Machine" that automatically reloads your money or um, unload them when you made a purchase.

How cool is that right? Or, am I err, so darn outdated with boardgames that this is nothing new? Sigh.

Anyways, if you're wondering if I actually made a purchase of the said boardgame, I did not. My 8 yo nephew owns it. The kids these days deal with more "eletronic gadgets" than their aunties and uncles. Including me. Oh and just so you know, he gets to chat on MSN, too.

Picture Perfect?

I just did a PICTURE PERSONALITY test over at Facebook and the result amuses me. It is grouped into four different categories: -

Temperament
Cosmopolitan
When you wake up in the morning, you set out to impress and to make a lasting impression on those who you encounter. Hmm quite true. You surround yourself with all the right people and right things - making you a real trendsetter. I'd like to believe that, yes. Others admire and want to be just like you. Yes. Second best will not do - it's the best (and only the best) for you. MAYbe. You are attentive to detail in yourself, your surroundings and your social circle. Err..

Interests
Thrill Seeker
You are interested in anything that is exciting and pleasurable. YES! YES! You're not afraid to indulge yourself sometimes, overindulged! - you live by your own set of rules and don't allow yourself to get hung on what others think. For the most part, you are independent and do whatever you please to do. Trying to stop you from doing something only makes you want it even more- This is DARN true! At the end of the day - you live for life's most thrilling moments.

Amusement
Adventurous
It's a good thing that you are filled with energy and ambitions (that others sometimes find exhausting) because you're continually looking for a new adventure and exciting experience. You struggle with a continual feeling of restlessness which constantly pushes you to the next level of excitement. Once you have accomplished one thing, you are eager to accomplish something more exciting, riskier and distinguishable. Quite (uncannily) true!

Passion
Physical
You are a cuddle bug - from a warm hug shared with your best friend to steamy sex with your partner, you enjoy every bit of human contact that you can get. You demonstrate your love for others most fluidly through physical one-on-one contact and you feel the most loved when you are being touched. You feel disconnected when you are physically isolated from others. You're a people person and a lover of all things human. Um, no comment. Hehehe.....

7th of November

Our DIFFERENCES :)

I had chicken rice at the uptown place just now. I think I might have gotten stomach upset. Luckily, I did not finish everything. Otherwise, I would've gotten diarrhea.

Are you listening?

Mmm hmmm. (Continue with my blogging)

I've been talking for the past 5 minutes.

Yeah, I heard you. But, you are OK, right?

Tea break, machas & an experiment

Whoi macha! Can take my picture?

These guys were so drawn by my camera than taking order from me when I sat down at this restaurant somewhere in PJ (must try the banana leaves rice if u like indian food).

"How much?" the older waiter asked.

"Erm, what how much?"

"That one," he pointed at my camera.

I didn't know how to answer to that question and IF I were to tell him the actual price will I be the next target of one of the murder cases on the newspaper? Then I thought, OK, I will say...

"Five hundred."

"FIVE HUNDRED?!"

They spoke amongst themselves in Tamil. One of them shook his head while another one was seen approaching me.

"Take picture." He demanded.

Sure. I love a model who likes to pose for me.

Whilst waiting for my pull tea, I shot some experimental shots. And then some at home. Need to practice - another excuse for cam-whoring :)

Shot using just my reliable tripod and of cos, D40x

O Men Where Art Thou?

I've always love watching Thai ads. Everytime I am at a Sky train station in BKK, I will make sure I'd go immediately to the TV screen to check out what is new. Too bad I don't visit BKK so often now.

Now thanks to BKK Mindscape, I get to watch a super hilarious ad for a squid snack known as TARO. I used to love this shits back in high school catching the matinee at the stand-alone cinema in Paramount or Cathay KL. Even kuacis. Damn shiok.

Check out the video here http://www.kosanathai.com/

There is, of cos, a gentleman narrating the ad at the background in Thai. If you want a full translation, log on to http://bkkmindscape.blogspot.com/

Sigh. I miss BKK. I'm definitely visiting sometime next yr before CNY. kab ;)

Duh-nuts Craze

What is UP with Malaysians lately?

I am not talking about the corruption cases nor the murder cases on our local dailies, but the Donuts madness! We read on The Star yesterday that J.Co the brand new Donut Cafe in Pavilion KL is doing super-fine. It is reportedly making 10,000 transactions per day. Ad being the Math genius immediately calculated the amount of money they've made within the first month they have opened - RM3mil?

Ok let's do the Math here. Considering each donut costs RM3.00. The paper reported that each customer that walks in will buy at least half a dozen. If on the average there are 5,000 customers (assuming lah), they'll reap in a gross profit of RM90,000 PER FUCKING DAY. And multiply that to a month?

Who is laughing all the way back to Jakarta, man? I think they make more money than say, Marc Jacobs or Louis Vuitton next door! Can I have a franchise license please? Ok I am more original than that but these days we want fast money. Why not, right? Maybe we should come up with a much funkier label, interior, branding and service to give them a run for their moolah.

We'll call it JUICY PINK Donuts (ahem, copyrighted, ok. But if you want advice, I have plentiful of ideas *wink*). We'll have hot young men and women all dressed up like Zac Efron and Paris Hilton serving donuts. Whaddaya think? Haha...

Ok. Anyways, their next best competitor, Big Apple Donut & Coffee, opened it's door to the public today in the same mall but alas on Level 6. Well, IF you have been to the Pavilion, Malaysians hardly go all the way up to Level 6 cos they are just too erm, lazy (FYI, so much more will be opening in the next couple of weeks I think Pavilion has got a lot of potentials). Walking is a pain so these guys from BADC decided to come up with something ingenius (or so they think).

Packed half a dozen of donuts in their fancy box and start giving each tenant a box. Good publicity and what way to create awareness. But I reckon they should also cover the customers who are shopping in the mall especially during lunch time. Man the damn entrance and pass it to the customers. Or, open a booth right outside of J.Co!

Hahaha... I'm so evil. Anyways, I shall go enjoy the oh-so-damn-sinful (and jelaking) free donuts. The Marketing Manager wanted me to immediately try the Durian Donut. Yikes.

Fancy one?

2nd day of November
I think by the 3rd day of our meeting, we were already erm, making out? :p

imamamaterial Kid

Did I say I have been shopping for a smart phone? I did right. Brain damage lately. It is down to these two fellas ...

OH CRAP! My apologies. I got distracted by JRM. And, yeah, since I've posted the wrong picture, let's talk about JRM for a bit. Check out the super hot photos on latest Details. Damn! I need to hit the gym more often now.

Oh, yeah. Smart phones.

Yes. These are the two phones from the same manufacturers. I have been checking out P1i at the local phone retailers, read tonnes of reviews online and off the mag stand :P ... I'm quite convinced but the buzz is on the W960i now BECAUSE it is packed with 8G of storage, touch-screen (must got touch-screen mah!) and a lot funkier looking. Maybe I shall wait *squinting*

Whilst browsing for smart phones, I detoured a little bit and checked out JRM and other hot celebrities. Amongst them are this super-hot "new kid" on the choc-a-block digital cameras industry.

Ricoh GR Digital II

I know I know. Ricoh aint your regular Canon and Canon. Or Nikon; but, read what it has to offer and check out the sample images taken from this camera. This baby is bundled with lotsa features I think I can leave my DSLR home when I am traveling. It's so friggin compact and pretty darn good looking, too.

hmmm.....I think I've turned into a full-fledge gadget-whore.

.....

First day of November.
It is like the first day you called me all the way from Australia and we spoke about many things that I could vaguely remember. Pardon my memories. Must be the caffeine that is slowly damaging my brain cells
