Projek "Merdeka" Runway

No, no, it is not hosted by RPK and the models are not our PM, DPM and DPM to be. These are 'models' who are passionate about erm, modeling?

Ok, jokes aside, we came across this one event held on the eve of Merdeka Day at The Amcorp Mall (National Day). Boy, talked about luck! As soon as I've dislodged my current lens and replaced it with the brand new one I've just acquired, I've I started shooting.Quite exhilarating and I love how poise these gals were. And, very pretty, too.

Ladies and gentlemen, let me present to you "Projek Merdeka Runway"!

OMFG

It's the D-Ninety!

What the hell is that? Definitely NOT referring to the smelly fruit with thorns on it's shell. It is Nikon latest kick-arse DSLR. Sorta replacing the really outstanding D80.

So what's the diff, I heard you asking? Hmm ... let's see. The Nikon ppl claimed that it is the first ever mid-range DSLR that could record a video. Yawn? Wait .... it could record video using any of it's lenses from wide angle, to macro to telephoto! Imagine how much you could do with those! Oh, I forgot. You need to be creative, too *wink*

Is that it? Hmm the next thing that made me totally psyched is that it allows storage of 9 custom Picture Controls. This function is superb esp for someone like me who likes to try different 'image presets' for different occassions.

Oh, and there's Live View, and 12.3MP and and .... you see it for yourself here.

These guys made me very envious. Aamof, they made group photographing so darn cool stylish.

(oh im so, i'm confused now. just when i am saving for the "baby" D3. damn.)

Of Triumphs & Tribulations

The Beijing Olympics is coming to an end in matters of hours. I think I will miss watching all the events incl. Equestrian which I do not understand. Just so you know, I've never watched so much sports in the last years as much as the past two weeks ☺

There were highlights, yes, Mr. Phelps won his 8 Golds, and no, Malaysia did not win a gold. The whole of Malaysia was hoping he did (so was I) but I guess Lin Dan was so determined to win, he did not waste time nor effort when he was on the court. He went for the killing. Still, Lee Chong Wei did us proud. Does anyone know why is it that Squash is not in the Olympics? We could get a medal there, no? (I heard that Malaysia still stands a chance for another gold medal in female Taekwando. Malaysia Boleh! Kan?)

Win or lose, they are all super heroes. Seriously. Just take a look at some of these super stunning pictures I ♥ from New York Times that illustrate their triumphs & tribulations of all the athletes and sportsmen. Bravo!

Explosion of Chemistry

I've finally got models who were willing to pose for me. And, in the comfort of my own abode. These lots are extremely spotting, fun & au naturel posers. I am quite thankful. Shooting them was effotless especially when there was an explosion of chemistry between the couples and amongst the friends. In one word, they rocked! Ok, two words.

And, I think I'm addicted to photo shoot. (FYI: It was sposed to be an all White Party).

Fashion Forward

Just when you thought it will not be happening and should not be happening, the baggy pants aka the Hammer pants have returned. And, yes, the demise of the skinny jeans (thank God). I'm not sure I'm thrilled but from the look of it (top pic), these dudes carried it off so well, I might not mind. At least, I could have an excuse of at least owning a Hammer pants :p

And for those of you who've been visiting the fashion blogs on the blogosphere, you definitely have seen the above image of Mr. Sartorialist for Gap's latest campaign. My first thought seeing that image on screen was, Marlon Brando! Quite uncanny the resemblance, no?

Rei Kawakubo for H&M F/W 08 collection. For those not in the know, Kawakubo is the brainchild behind Comme de Garcons (CDG) - one of my fav brands :)

And speaking of CdG, I've recently fallen madly in love with their zip around wallets (unisex I heard). I do not usually change wallets if I do not need to (superstitious, yes, I can be) but when I found one that I like, I will make sure I will get it. My fav. from the lot is the Reptile Billfold in classic black.

The Greatest Superheroes Show

Watchin’ how Venus Williams got trashed by Li Na from China last night (repeat) for the quarter-final women at the Beijing Olympics, my heart went for the former. I knew she wanted it (to win) badly but for some strange reason, Ms Williams could not defeat the up and coming tennis player from China. It was an outstanding game, seriously. I think Ms Williams tried her very best, too. Overhearing the commentator’s remark, “Venus really made her (Li Na) worked hard for it”, I couldn’t agree more. In fact, I didn’t think there was a loser in last night’s match.

On the other side of the court, the quarter final match for men, FedEx had lost to a certain James Blake from US of A. The match, to my surprise, was a little boring. Maybe, it is because I really wanted FedEx to win. I’m not sure if it is just me, but last night, Mr Federer seemed defeated and lacking concentration – perhaps, it was the haze. Tonight, Nadal will attempt or should I say, walks away with his very first Olympic medal? I can’t wait.

Fast forward 7 days earlier, the world waited with bated breath on 8th August 2008 for the biggest show of the year (or should I say, of the decade?) for the opening night of Beijing Olympics which marked the 29th Olympic games.

Many people were curious just how much can the Chinese put up a show for the world to see? One week since the opening, one murdered Americans and many, many happy tears and dashed hopes, and world records, people are glued on their TV celebrating the win and the defeat of their countrymen and at the same time, completely in awe at how well the Chinese put on a show for the opening night – spectacular show, great choreography. The best ever.

On whether it is a big a deal the pre-recorded fireworks during the opening night, and the controversy on the little girl who did not sing aka “Chinese Milli Vanili”, WHO FUCKING CARES? China made me proud and I am damn proud to be a Chinese. Seriously!

I think now I understand why they call sportsmen the original “superheroes” because they are. Watching the gymnasts twist and turn, Phelps swims like a frigging fish and still manages to look darn good, and the Thai lady who won gold at the women weightlifting event, and our badminton players fighting really hard for our country to win our first ever gold (not that our government REALLY cares, seriously), I take my hats off for them. They inspire me. Like, how after the 10km run last Sunday, I went for a swim the following day. Again, yesterday and again, tomorrow. Yes, I’ve caught the Olympic bug :)

Let us all pray for a gold medal for our countrymen.

Viva La Vida! (err... i know. That's like Spanish hehe)
